As I argued in today’s InnovationAus, there are lessons to be learnt from the government’s experience with COVIDSafe.

There are a number of management tools, exerises and approaches that could help forestall, and at a minimum fremedy, the problems encountered with COVIDSafe.

In the article, I mention postmortems/after actions reviews as one means of digging deep into the underlying systemic problems. For those to work, though, you need the right leadership and culture.

After all, these things aren’t supposed to be after scapegoats. They are going to be uncomfortable, especially for leadership. They take practice. And they are going to require follow through, otherwise people will not take them seriously.

But they are essential for effective change, and understanding whether the change you though you had really did stick.
